If you’re from Bangladesh and interested in studying in the UK, there are a few things you need to know. Firstly, contrary to popular belief, it is possible to study in the UK without taking the IELTS.

Certain universities offer exemptions, such as getting a score of 70% or above in English in HSC, having an undergraduate degree in English, or completing a pre-sessional language course.

Let's briefly know about what is IELTS?

IELTS is an English language proficiency test which is an international standard test of English Language Skills. It assesses all four language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking.

It is accepted by many universities and colleges as proof of a person’s ability to study in an English-speaking environment. There are two versions of the IELTS test –

The Academic Test and the General Training Test. The Academic Test is for people who want to study at university or college, while the General Training Test is for people who want to do non-academic training or gain work experience in an English-speaking country.

If you’re considering studying in the UK but don’t want to take the IELTS, do some research to see if any of these options are available to you. With a little bit of effort, you can make your dream of studying abroad a reality!

Some of the UK universities provide exemption facility; let’s know the condition for the exemption-

Reason of exemption:

1. Academic English Marks

The English grades of your O’ Level exam can substitute for a C in IELTS, which is 70% according to the British education system. If you have obtained this grade, there will be no need for IELTS during application processes at Bachelor’s/Master Degree level institutions across UK universities!

2. Interview with your chosen university

Online interviews are a common part of the UK university admission process. The key intention behind these interviews is to assess how serious the student candidates are about their courses they’ll pursue in UK universities, as well as English language fluency . This interviewing procedure removes any need for IELTS scores!

3. MOI Facility (Medium of Instruction)–

Some universities provide a Medium of instruction for students to use to get enrolled into any top-notch British institution without worrying about IELTS Academic levels required by these institutions.

4. English Language assessment tests-

IELTS, TOEFL & CPE are the most common English tests taken by international students. But there is a wide variety in universities’ requirements for language proficiency testing- some only accept IELTS while others will require either Cambridge or PTE Academic as well! Make sure you research which exam each university requires before applying so that they don’t turn down your application because it isn’t compatible with their standards.

5. Pre-sessional English Course-

The IELTS is a popular test for international students who want to study in the UK. If you don’t meet entry requirements, then there’s still hope! You can get an acceptance letter without having taken it all up until now if your scores are high enough and allow students with low band scores access into courses at Post-Sessional levels too – so give yourself plenty of time before deciding on what university or colleges that will be right choice according English coursework demands (and budget)!
